Lock Down Systems

 

Recent changes have been made to security interests in schools, and many are now installing Lock-Down alarms throughout schools to ensure that pupils and staff are kept out of harm whcih may be outside the classrooms. A Lock Down alarm is a unique tone, warning people to remain in their rooms until further instructions are provided, or the danger has passed.

The Lock Down alarm is over-ridden by the operation of the Fire Alarm, which has priority and requires that the building is evacuated. The systems are often interconnected or operated through the same alerting devices, and in some cases may only be a firmware upgrade on existing systems. These are often used by schools to incorporate a Public Address system also.
