Why should I change to AFAM?

Three reasons really.

Firstly, no term contracts and no hidden fees. When you want to change away for any reason, you can.

Secondly, we are plagued with problems in the service we get from ADT. Typically we are given information on the Test we undertake long after we have left site, and this can mean that we have to return to re-submit our tests. This is costing us a fortune, and ADT are not interested in trying to improve this, despite years of pleading.

Thirdly, the accounts all come through your existing provider, and you can communicate any issues you may have through us. No other organisation to deal with, which makes it that much easier to work out.

So where to from here?

If you want to change from ADT to AFAM there is a simple process. First you need to establish when your term contract with ADT will expire. If you did not delete Clause 3B from your ADT contract before sending it back, then you may need to provide three months notice in writing before the end of this term in order to change. The best action is to contact ADT and advise them that you wish to change to another provider, and ask at what point you are free to do so. Then write to them advising your intention to change. We do not encourage you to attempt to break a term contract with ADT as they have a large disconnection fee, and liquidated damages to send to you if you do.

Secondly, download the Monitoring Service Agreement from the Downloads page. This becomes a trigger for us to arrange the change-over, call or email us to discuss pricing, and we will send you a schedule detailing pricing for your site - we may be able to get a better price than that listed on the website. Sign the agreement and send it back to us and we will arrange the rest.

There is no cost for the change, and the invoicing then runs as a separate line on our normal invoice for our services.

ADT are attempting to enforce a $450+GST "Disconnection Fee" even for contracts whcih are out of term. I have been through their contract, and there are many fees listed, including disconection fees for breaking term contracts, I cannot find anywhere that relates to a disconnection fee for a contract that has ceased it's term, and not automatically been rolled over. Each time this has been challenged, they have backed down, however this is the sort of attitude which we are attempting to get everyone away from.
