Award-winning technician at FFP

Tags: Newsletter

At this year’s FPANZ conference, FFP has won the only award offered in the fire industry.

We have always known we have the top people, but this year we have proven it. One of our hard-working technicians, Jodie Spence-Ord has picked up the gong for Fire Learner of the Year from industry training body Competenz at the annual FireNZ conference in Auckland. FireNZ is the annual conference run jointly by the Fire Protection Association of New Zealand and the Institute of Fire Engineers, and features developments in fire technology and has become a must-attend for those in the engineering and fire safety industry. The industry don’t offer awards within the industry but training body Competenz, which is tasked with delivering the fire safety qualifications programme, recognises the best of the industry through an annual award for the best students.

Jodie has been studying toward her National Certificate qualifications, and having been pipped for this award last year as runner-up, has managed to finish top of the country this year through hard work and determination. The fire industry offers an amazing career with formal qualifications and professional development within a secure industry that is truly focused on saving lives. We are very proud to have Jodie on our team and this award is a reflection of the solid effort she has brought to both her job and her studies.

Congratulations Jodie, you are a star!
